Hotel Management Schools Educational Offer

A degree in hotel management can be offered in a university or college, a vocational school, a community college, an online program or even through distance learning. However, there are only six-month courses that are also offered through special programs or through a workshop.

University / College

In a university or college, graduate programs in hotel management are also offered aside from the bachelor’s degree. There is even a program leading to a doctorate of philosophy in hotel and tourism management. For the bachelor’s degree, emphases of courses are as varied as beverage operations, nutrition, lodging management, tourism analysis and research, eco-tourism, heritage attractions, theme parks management, event organizing, marketing, organizational behavior and catering management, among others. The students will be interred for four semesters, alternating with classroom instruction every other semester. They will be interred in a hotel in one semester, in a casino the next, in a theme park the next after that and in a cruise ship for the last one. They will know the various aspects of a hotel’s day-to-day operations during their internship. They will be supervising chefs and chauffeurs. They will be learning other languages so they can convince potential clients to hold their conferences in the hotel’s spacious function rooms. They will know how much the hotel’s expenses are for a day’s operation. In the classroom, there will be lots of food and wine tasting and each student’s recipe is sold at the university cafeteria.

Also remember that when studying in an institution such as a college or university, where there are several departments and faculties, one will ave the opportunity to study things to support the principle qualification. This could be a language course (a sprachkurs for example) or a communication course – whatever it is, it will only boost your CV further and help you on to a great career.

Community College / Vocational School

The difference between the courses offered in a community college and in a vocational school from a university or college is that these courses are only good for two years’ stay of the student. Thus, it just leads the student to an associate degree in hotel management. Similar courses are taught like food storage, the basics of a casino, receptionist procedures, and common legal issues in hotel management, dining room management and the various culinary arts.

Online Program / Distance Learning

Hospitality management offered in an online program or distance learning is no different than the regular school except that the tuition is minimal because there are no laboratory fees involved. If you want to take a shot in an online program or distance learning, then enrol in the online school expansion of a credible university.
